What Makes an Android Text Look Android

Most fake text generators just recolour an iPhone mockup. Android's message list follows different rules, and these are the ones that matter.

No tails, just rounded rectangles

Android bubbles have no pointed tail at all. They are plain rounded rectangles with a radius of roughly 20px. Adding an iMessage-style tail is the single fastest way to make an Android mockup look wrong.

Runs tighten their inner corner

When one person sends several messages in a row, the corner facing the rest of the run tightens to about 4 to 8px while the outer corners stay round. That subtle squaring is what visually welds a run of messages into one block.

Google Blue out, neutral grey in

Outgoing messages take the theme primary colour โ€” Google Blue, #0B57D0 โ€” with white text. Incoming messages sit on a neutral grey around #E1E2E8 with near-black text.

Colour is theme-driven, not transport-driven

On iPhone, blue means iMessage and green means SMS. Android has no equivalent split: SMS and RCS threads look identical because the bubble colour comes from the theme, never from how the message was sent.

FauxTalks is a mockup tool, not a clone. It follows these conventions closely, but it does not claim to reproduce any Android build pixel for pixel.

What You Can Customize

From the contact photo down to the battery percentage in the status bar.

Contact Name & Photo

Set any display name or number for the thread and upload a contact picture for the header.

Light or Dark Mode

Switch the whole mockup to a dark surface with a matching status bar, the way Android renders a night-mode thread.

Custom Timestamps

Set the time on individual messages and on the phone status bar so the thread reads as one plausible sequence.

Group Text Threads

Turn on group mode for a multi-person SMS thread with per-sender names in uniform grey. See the group chat generator.

Image Messages

Attach a photo to any bubble to simulate an MMS or RCS picture inside the thread.

Status Bar Control

Set battery percentage, signal strength, Wi-Fi bars and the clock to fit any scenario.

Who Uses This Tool & Why

Meme & Content Creators

Android text memes read differently from iPhone ones, and for a lot of audiences the blue-and-grey Android thread is the familiar one. Build the joke, export it and drop it into a TikTok, a Reel or a tweet.

Writers & Storytellers

Use an SMS thread as a prop in fiction, a webcomic panel or a screenplay beat, with invented characters and exact timestamps that keep the story's timeline coherent.

UI Designers & Portfolios

Show a Material-style messaging concept with believable content in a case study or client pitch, without building a prototype or borrowing somebody's real inbox.

App Tutorials & Training

Illustrate a help article, an onboarding guide or a smishing-awareness lesson with a clean example thread built from invented data instead of a real screenshot.

Use This Responsibly

FauxTalks exists for memes, storytelling, UI mockups, design portfolios and app tutorials. A text thread is one of the easiest things to pass off as real, so the line matters here more than anywhere.

Do not use these mockups to impersonate a real person or business, fabricate evidence for a dispute or legal matter, harass or defame anyone, run a scam or phishing attempt, or present fabricated messages as genuine to deceive an audience. Doing so may be illegal where you live and is a breach of our terms.

Use invented names and numbers. If a mockup could be mistaken for a real conversation, label it clearly as a mockup. See our Terms of Service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the fake Android text message generator free?

Yes. FauxTalks is free with no account, no subscription and no watermark on the exported PNG. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to a server.

Do Android message bubbles have a tail?

No. Android bubbles in Google Messages are plain rounded rectangles with a radius of roughly 20px and no pointed tail. Within a run of messages from the same sender, the corner facing the run tightens to about 4 to 8px so the bubbles read as a single block.

What colour are Android text bubbles?

Outgoing messages use the theme primary colour โ€” Google Blue, #0B57D0 โ€” with white text. Incoming messages sit on a neutral grey around #E1E2E8 with near-black text. Because the colour is theme-driven, it shifts with the user's theme rather than with the message type.

Do SMS and RCS look different on Android?

No. Unlike fake iPhone text messages, where blue means iMessage and green means SMS, Android does not change bubble colour by transport. SMS and RCS threads look identical.

Can I make a fake Android text in dark mode?

Yes. Switch the mockup to a dark theme to get the dark surface, adjusted bubble contrast and dark status bar that an Android phone shows at night.

Is it legal to make a fake Android text screenshot?

For memes, fiction, UI mockups, portfolios and tutorials, yes. Using one to impersonate a real person, fabricate evidence, defraud someone or deceive an audience is not โ€” it may be illegal where you live and it breaches our Terms of Service.
